Rules of conduct on the field.

        1. Empty your dog’s bladder off the field before you enter the field.

    2. NO PEEING ON THE FIELD, PERIOD. THAT MEANS DOGS AND HUMANS

        3.  Members in Good Standing have seniority, and will be listed first on the roster board. Newcomers or visitors will be listed as they arrive, after the Members in Good Standing. For example: if you are new and you arrive first at the training session, you will still be listed after all of the Members in Good Standing.

4. Dogs are not allowed to run loose on the field.  One exception: For exercise purposes and you are in control of the dog.  Check to see that there are no other dogs that could be hostile to your dog on the field.  In other words, don’t let a dog fight erupt.

     5. If you have two dogs to train, you will train one first, then you will wait the entire rotation to train your second dog.

       6. Be ready to bring your dog onto the field when it’s your turn. Make the dog ready by attaching all necessary collars and make your leash handy before you walk away from your vehicle.

    7. When it is your turn to work, try to be specific about what you want to work on and list it on the roster board. If you’re not sure, ask the Training Director.

    8. When you are finished, look at the roster board and state so to the next person waiting to enter the field.

    9. When you need to put your dog in the long down, notify everyone on the field.

    10. Visitors* will be charged $20.00 for working their dog in protection- no exceptions. The funds will go into the treasury to help offset equipment costs.

    11. Clean up after your dog if they have an accident on the field.

     12. Pick up your garbage and throw it away; leave the field better than you found it.

    13. Idle dogs not being worked are to be secured in their crates.

Note* Definition of a visitor- someone who is not a member or prospective member of RSG. Prospects that have made at least two (2) visits who have not submitted a membership application to join the Gruppe will be considered a ‘visitor’.

Trial Preparation Tips

Here’s a list of the items that will be required of you to assemble to present to the club Secretary, regardless of where you trial, and some things to remember about the protocols of a trial.

1. Address and map of trial location.

2. Time and date of trial (including the Tracking phase).

3. Phone number and/or email address of the hosting club trial.

4. Your dog’s score book.

5. Your dog’s shot record(s).

6. Your dog’s registration papers (don’t panic if you don’t have them yet, they are not required, but nice to have if there are any questions).

7. Your dog must have a readable tattoo, or a Micro-chip. If you go the micro-chip route, you must provide an electronic reader to check the dog’s ID chip number. This is checked upon the start of your routine at trial. Pssst..don't panic, we own a multi-scan reader for 125 khz chips. It reads Avid, Home Again, and Delstron.

8. If you are at a USA sanctioned trial, you must present your USA membership card to the trial Secretary along with your trial application and your dog's scorebook

9. Your favorite heeling leash

10. Your favorite tracking leash and harness.

11. A fur saver (prong collars are not allowed anywhere on the field, DO NOT USE THEM ON OR NEAR A TRIAL).

12. A brush to clean your dog with.

13. Plenty of water- at least 1 gallon.

14. Shade for your dog. Tarp, tent, anything to keep them out of the sun. Locking them in a car is NOT acceptable.

15. Transport crate.

16. Food for the dog.

17.  DO NOT FEED YOUR DOG BEFORE TRIAL. WAIT UNTIL THAT EVENING. If they must eat, feed them very little. A dog that is bloated from recently eating will not perform as you expect.

18. Wear the appropriate clothing to trial. Do not wear torn or dirty clothes, open toe shoes, offensive t-shirts, etc. This is a trial, give the proper respect to all involved and the hard work they have done.

19. NEVER ARGUE WITH A JUDGE. You will look like a poor sport, and risk being dismissed for that very reason.

20. Empty your dog completely before trial and never let your dog pee on the field.

21. Lastly, go out there and have a good time, you and your dog have earned it. This is what it’s all about!
